Digium, Global Convergence Step up Distribution Partnership

When it comes to hosted phone systems and session initiation protocol (SIP) trunking systems, Digium is well known in the field for being a top-notch provider. Primarily known for its work in developing the Asterisk (News - Alert) system, a new report from Yahoo Finance suggests that Digium has another new vector for getting these products to market. That new vector comes in the form of a new member of the Digium (News - Alert) Cloud Agent Program: Global Convergence Inc.

Global Convergence reportedly joined Digium's program's ranks as a Master Agent, and allows Global Convergence the opportunity to offer the Switchvox (News - Alert) Cloud Unified Communications (UC) system, as well as Digium's SIP Trunking services. Switchvox Cloud makes itself a very attractive offering thanks to a raftload of available features, including the redesigned Switchboard system that allows for next-level call control, as well as the Tags system for easier contact management. Plus, Digium offers up the “all features included” pricing model for added simplicity; business phone systems in the past have sometimes been known for confusing pricing structures, an issue that Digium looks to avoid outright by making it a lot easier to tell just how much a package costs.

But it's not just the pricing and features that are designed to draw users' attention in Digium; Digium also offers a line of IP phones that work well with the service, allowing for a complete solution all from one vendor. Digium's solutions are geared more to the small and medium-sized business (SMB) market, so those users looking to take advantage of cost savings and all-in-one convenience may want to start looking here.

Global Convergence (News - Alert), meanwhile, seems eager to get started. Its vice president of global marketing, Jennifer Bryant, offered up some commentary around the arrangement, saying “Global Convergence has been a leading Digium distribution partner since 2007, and has unparalleled expertise in Switchvox solutions, IP phones, gateways, and cards. We are thrilled to add Switchvox Cloud services and bring our solution provider community additional opportunities for acceleration and growth of their Digium UC practice.”

Distribution arrangements generally work out well for all concerned; Digium gets access to a new market, and also gets a foot in a few different doors when it comes to new product releases, as a whole new market is now familiar with its product line and just what said product line can do. Meanwhile, Global Convergence gets to bring the Digium product line to its current customer base, solve some problems, and generally look like a miracle worker to its customer base for delivering this amazing new solution. Throw in the simplified price structure and the sheer convenience associated with Digium's product line, and it should be inducement enough for many potential buyers.

Naturally, it will be a while before we see just how well this new arrangement works out. But considering what's going into that arrangement, this should prove to be good news for all concerned. Global Convergence has an impressive new arsenal of tools to bring out, and Digium's value is likely to prove apparent to a wide range of new firms.
