Coming to the Aid of SMBs in Need of Speed

May 05, 2015

Small and medium sized businesses in rural areas have a unique problem: They serve a need for those around them, yet they have the challenge of getting the proper connectivity to conduct business online at a reasonable speed.

That may be one reason why Telarus (News - Alert), Inc., the master agent for more than 50 brands of business data, voice, and cloud services, has announced it’s entered into an agreement with ViaSat (News - Alert) Inc., to become the first nationwide master agent of ViaSat’s Exede Business satellite Internet services.

“Telarus is an exceptional distribution partner for us,” said Dan Turak, VP of Sales and Distribution for ViaSat. “Their integrity, along with a track record for innovation and high-quality engineering, were major factors in our decision to partner with them. In addition to their technical capabilities, Telarus also built an extensive network of capable agents who will be able to sell our services on day one.”

And it’s those services which make the joint venture an ideal fit.

Exede Business Internet, available in many areas across the U.S. — including rural communities without many options for high-speed DSL or cable — provides 15 Mbps download and 4 Mbps upload speeds for Internet and cloud connectivity. “With Exede Internet as a primary service, Telarus agents will be able to fill in coverage gaps, or use Exede to provide a reliable, affordable continuity service in the event of a service disruption with a primary provider,” the company said in a statement.

Exede Business is now available to the Telarus partner sales channel, and has been integrated into Telarus’ patented GeoQuote system, allowing channel partners to prequalify, price, and propose Exede Business services to their clientele in near real-time.

“We are excited to become ViaSat’s strategic distribution partner,” said Trish Kapos, Telarus SVP of Marketing. “ViaSat is a world leader in commercial satellite communication, and their Internet solutions fit perfectly into our business continuity and underserved market strategies. We look forward to helping them build their Exede Business sales channel.”
