Master Agent Carrier EarthLink Enhances Cloud Portfolio

January 31, 2013

EarthLink Business is a telecommunications provider that has nearly 28,000 fiber miles at its discretion, offering customers next generation services that can help them reduce costs as well as see many other advantages through utilizing MPLS, Ethernet, e-mail, data backup, security and more. The company is also a Gold Carrier of master agent Telarus (News - Alert) and has recently teamed with Bethesda, Md.-based Virtustream in order to ramp up the amount of IT services found within its portfolio.

SMB customers who turn to EarthLink after the strategic relationship with xStream is inked will be able to leverage key enterprise-class cloud services while raising the bar on security, performance and business continuity. In addition, in the not-so-distant future, the organization will be enabling its client base to gain access to a pay-as-you-go model, which essentially only charges them for what they need to meet their individual business requirements.

“With the xStream cloud software deployed as part of our next-generation cloud architecture, we will more efficiently serve our clients in the SMB market," said Mike Toplisek, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing for EarthLink, in a statement. “We can bring additional economies of both scale and skills to our small and mid-sized clients, a privilege once afforded by large enterprises only. Our broader set of managed cloud services will continue to reduce customer need for dedicated IT hardware, software and or even personnel to support new applications."

This year, EarthLink is planning to get various new cloud centers up and running, which include locations in Dallas; Chicago; San Jose, Calif.; and Miami, where xStream capabilities will be made readily available as well.

Back in September, TMCnet reported that the telecommunications provider put a more heavy concentration on its services that are excelling, and in the second quarter of 2012, its business services revenue only fell five percent on a pro forma basis. Equity Analyst Scott Kessler of S&P Capital IQ is predicting that in the future, EarthLink will see its revenue ramp up between two to five percent annually from 2012 to 2014. This growth is due to the success of its business services sector.

"We see notable investments in 2013 helping to build on considerable offerings and capabilities in business services," Kessler added in a stock report.

With Earthlink’s (News - Alert) recent partnership with XStream, it looks as if Kessler’s forecast may be right on the money.
