Master Agent Develops New Division for Resellers
Adding value to a solution is a key selling point in markets where services and products have been commoditized. This distributor of point-of-sale identification as well as automatic identification recently developed a new business unit that is meant to give its resellers value-added support services.
The new division, according to this Channel Partners Online report, is called the ScanSource Services Group, or SSG. The division will be especially useful to the resellers for assessment, training, education configuration, marketing and implementation. Leading SSG as the president will be Mike Burns (News - Alert), who served the last 11 years as the company’s vice president.
Burns has experience working for AT&T and Lucent. He said in a news release recently that SSG will be “solely focused” on bringing services that are unmatched in the industry and that the services offered through SSG are customized so resellers can save time and money while growing their sales.
SSG will get the ball rolling by offering resellers on-demand video with its marketing services. The video on-demand feature will be a popular item for resellers’ websites. SSG will also offer support for mobile devices, including integration, activation and configuration. The company has also developed special offers for Avaya (News - Alert) resellers, specifically, training programs that geared for Avaya, which is a global provider of business collaboration and communications solutions.
Around 85 percent of Fortune 1000 companies are using an Avaya product/service. SSG will also offer training classes on Avaya Aura Communication Manager maintenance and troubleshooting as well as training for the Aura CM advanced features. Resellers will even have access to integration and configuration of IP Office R8.1, which they can access remotely.
Not every reseller has been certified with Avaya, so SSG is giving them the option to enhance their data practice with the Avaya Networking Enabling Program. This will give resellers access to SSG engineers and designers who can guide them through setting up the enabling program.
Resellers today are looking for a master agent that has the technology and support focus that can meet the demands of their users. Training and education is a big component in the complete package that is a valuable master agent. The master agent should also be focused on tech support, marketing and sales that will take resellers on a positive growth pattern. Scansource’s new SSG is bringing that kind of value to resellers in a big way.
