Verizon, Provider of Master Agent TBI Partners with Comcast for Streaming Entertainment
Have you been waiting too long for the ability to enjoy TV programming streaming through your Microsoft Xbox? Word in the telecommunications space is that Comcast (News - Alert) and Verizon plan to partner on such an initiative with programming slated to be distributed through Comcast’s Xfinity and Verizon’s FiOS service. As a master agent of TBI, this is a strategic move for Verizon (News - Alert).
According to this PC World report, Xbox Live members already subscribing to Verizon’s FiOS (News - Alert) TV and Internet service will have the opportunity to view popular channels through their gaming consoles, without adding any other hardware. The company also plans to deliver multi-channel streaming in HDTV to boxes live.
This latest partnership is part of the borderless lifestyle concept for this master agent provider. The borderless lifestyle attempts to shatter old technology barriers and provide consumers with the freedom to connect with the content and channels they love on their favorite devices, eliminating interoperability issues.
Verizon Vice President of Consumer and Mass Business Product Management, Eric Bruno, shared in a statement that the borderless lifestyle enables consumers to leverage entertainment on their own terms. The integration of FiOS TV on the Xbox 360 allows users to tap into the magic of Kinect as they transform the way they interact with TV. Bruno stressed this is a game-changing entertainment experience for customers.
For its part, Comcast will deliver on demand programming from its Xfinity service, adding value to that offered by Verizon. Comcast’s partnership with Microsoft (News - Alert) will enable the provider to offer customers a unique and innovative way to control, discover and experience thousands of on demand programs, while also using the unique voice and gesture controls offered in the Kinect technology.
Larry Hyrb, Xbox Live programming director, shared that this Comcast and Verizon partnership will provide the perfect foundation to continue to evolve the Xbox ecosystem. Gamers and their families will discover more ways to experience the Xfinity On Demand service they already know and use. This platform offers a new and unique way to consume entertainment with the wave of your hand or the sound of your voice.
Contributing to this news, Microsoft also announced that more than 40 of the world’s TV and entertainment providers plan to join Verizon and Comcast by streaming their content to the Xbox. These providers include HBO, BBC, SyFy, Bravo, MediaSet in Italy, ZDF in Germany, Televisa in Mexico, Rogers on Demand in Canada and more.
TBI master agent provider, Verizon, is perfectly positioned to promote this level of entertainment interaction among Xbox users. And with the success of this launch, we should anticipate additional competition in the industry.
