Late last week, it was announced that AboveNet, one of the nation’s carriers and partner of master agent TBI, has just completed a fiber project that connects it to the DuPont Fabros Technology (DFT) wholesale data center in Piscataway, N.J.

Already connected to DFT’s data centers in both Chicago and Northern Virginia, AboveNet is in the process of expanding DFT's brand new data center development in Santa Clara, Calif., a press release stated.

AboveNet will deploy equipment at DFT's New Jersey data center, thus providing the facility with an IP and Metro Ethernet POP. Through utilization of AboveNet's fiber-optic network, customers within the data center will be now be able to utilize connectivity to two major carrier hotels located in the New York City Metro area. This will give users access to crucial business environments throughout the world, the company said.

DFT's enterprise and carrier customers have the ability to use AboveNet's fiber-optic network infrastructure, which has more than 2.3 million fiber miles, and is an inter-city network that covers 12,000 route miles.

Hossein Fateh, president and chief executive officer for DuPont Fabros Technology, said "Our customers must have access to scalable, diverse high bandwidth connectivity with no network interruptions. "AboveNet has and continues to provide high performance fiber-optic networks for our customers' mission critical business applications."

As a master agent to AboveNet, TBI manages partners, or subagents, who sell the carrier’s products. TBI works in conjunction with its partners to offer back-office support, experienced consultation and product training.
